Troubleshooting
Fix common setup and runtime issues for voice drafting and image paste workflows.
Microphone not detected
Go to Windows Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Microphone and confirm access is enabled for desktop apps. Then restart PromptPaste.
No text inserted into the terminal or target app
Re-lock the target window. The most common cause is focus loss. The intended input area must be focused when insertion fires.
Text inserts into the wrong window
Use target lock to pin PromptPaste to a specific window. Without it, insertion goes to whatever window has focus at the time of release.
Image paste did nothing
Confirm the target app accepts pasted clipboard images in that exact field. Many search bars, text-only inputs, and compact chat controls ignore images even if the app supports attachments elsewhere.
Image paste works in one app but not another
That usually means the second app blocks pasted clipboard images or requires focus in a different composer. If normal manual image paste does not work there, PromptPaste cannot force support.
Low transcription accuracy
Reduce background noise, use a closer microphone, and speak in complete phrases rather than individual words. Shorter, cleaner phrases transcribe more reliably.
High latency or slow response
Speak in shorter bursts and hold the hotkey for just the phrase you want to insert. Transcribing very large blocks at once increases latency.
App will not start or crashes on launch
Check that your Windows version meets the minimum requirement. Reinstall from the Microsoft Store if the issue persists.
Permission errors on first launch
Run as a standard user, not Administrator, unless your target workflow explicitly requires elevation. Restart the app after granting microphone permissions.
